Your text stays in your browser. Dikke Stift processes everything locally on your own device. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, nothing is read along the way.
1. Who is responsible
Dikke Stift is a service of TechTovenaar, based in Arnhem, the Netherlands, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under number 52142183.

This policy explains which data is and isn’t processed when you visit dikkestift.nl or use the tool.
2. The tool runs entirely in your browser
Dikke Stift anonymises text. That happens from start to finish in your own browser, using JavaScript that runs on your device after the page has loaded.
In practice:
- The text you paste never reaches a server.
- There is no database of your texts. It doesn’t exist, so there is nothing to leak, subpoena or sell.
- Your text only lives in your browser’s working memory and disappears the moment you close or refresh the page.
- Once the page has loaded, the tool also works offline.
So no content is processed in the sense of the GDPR, for the simple reason that it never reaches TechTovenaar in the first place.
3. What data is processed
a) Technical hosting logs
The site runs on Cloudflare. When a page is requested, Cloudflare automatically records technical data such as IP address, timestamp, browser type and the requested URL. This serves security, abuse prevention and simply delivering the website. These logs are not used to build profiles.
- Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), namely a working and secure website.
- Retention: in line with Cloudflare’s own policy, see their privacy statement.
b) Statistics
Visitor statistics are collected using Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-friendly alternative to Google Analytics. It sets no cookies, uses no fingerprinting and does not identify individual visitors. Only aggregated figures are reviewed, such as page views, country of origin and referring site.
- Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), namely understanding how the site is used.
- Because no cookies are set and no personal data is collected, no cookie banner or consent is required.
c) Email
If you email [email protected], your message and email address are kept for as long as needed to handle your question, and deleted afterwards.
4. Cookies and local storage
Dikke Stift sets no tracking or advertising cookies. In fact, it sets no cookies at all.
It does use local storage, to remember how you configured the tool:

Local storage lives on your device, not on a server. It is never sent anywhere and TechTovenaar cannot see it. You can clear it yourself at any time through your browser settings.
5. Third parties

There are no other third parties. No data is sold or shared for marketing purposes. Full stop.
6. Transfers outside the EU
Cloudflare is a US company and may process data outside the EU. Such transfers are covered by the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Your texts are not affected: they never leave your device.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and data portability. Since there is barely any data about you, there is little to access in practice, but your request is welcome at [email protected]. You will get a reply within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied, you can lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl) or your own national supervisory authority.
8. Children
Dikke Stift is not aimed at children under 16 and does not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Security
- The entire site runs over HTTPS.
- The tool processes locally, which means there is no central place from which texts could leak.
- Dependencies are tracked and kept up to date.
10. Business use and data processing agreements
If you use Dikke Stift within your company, you remain the data controller for the texts you paste into it. Because no personal data is processed on your behalf (everything stays on your device), a data processing agreement is not required. 11. Changes
This policy may change. For material changes, the date at the top will be updated and a notice will appear on the site.
